S and P launches new hedged option alert service

Subscription service lets advisors help investors hedge equity investments. Standard & Poor's is releasing daily alerts for hedged option strategies, a service the New York-based financial database publisher says puts advisors in a position to help their clients stave off losses.
Stars, etc. The daily releases, provided by Charlottesville, Va.-based investment-research firm Investors Observer, contain details including S&P's Stock Appreciation Ranking System , covered-call and hedged-trade ideas, projected potential return rate, and proprietary key ratings to measure the relative riskiness of suggested trades.
"Each strategy provides suggestions that financial advisors can use as a tool to hedge their client's equity investments," says Investors Observer analyst Reid Stratton. "These essential strategies contain information that financial advisors can use to seek to benefit their clients who want to employ a more conservative investment approach."
